Isaiah 45:22 “Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth.”
Recently I heard an account of how Charles Spurgeon became a Christian. Charles Spurgeon, who lived in the late 1800’s, was one of the greatest preachers of the gospel that the world has ever known. As a young man, Charles heard a message on the verse above by a pastor in a small country church in England. His focus was on the word “Look.” This is what God has called us to do to be saved. Anyone can look. It takes no effort to look. Young and old, male and female, black and white, rich and poor, slave and king – anyone can look. God has invited us all to look to Him. There is salvation in no one else. We aren’t called to look at ourselves, or look at some great celebrity, or look at our neighbor, or look at anyone or anything else but Him. He alone can forgive us for all our sins. He alone can cleanse our hearts. He alone can take us to heaven. Look to Him, look to the cross where Jesus died for our sins, look to Him Who so loved the world that He gave His only Son for us – and believe that when you look, He will save you. He has promised this to all the ends of the earth. And as we look, He will open the eyes of those who all their lives have been spiritually blind. Do you want to see? Then you must look.
