Genesis 6:5 “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. Then the LORD said, ‘I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.’ But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.”
Matthew 24:37-39 “For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
Are you ever absolutely appalled at what is going on in our world today. I just watched a documentary on child sex-trafficking in the U.S. It is rampant! And despite numerous lawsuits initiated by the parents of their abused daughters, the on-line internet advertisers of child sex-trafficking have over and over again had their cases dismissed by state and federal judges who point to a law Congress passed when the internet was becoming popular to protect websites – despite the obvious clear complicity of such internet companies. Congress is well aware of the problem, yet they have done nothing to change that law. Money rules everything . . . Such evil at every turn – pimps and internet companies becoming rich by exploiting children, and the courts and Congress so blind and ineffective at curbing the evil that the practice actually increases year after year. And that’s just one example.
In recent years murder of children by the millions by abortion, promotion of sexual sin and criminalization of any opposition to it, terrorism, genocide, racism, and every other sin and evil you might imagine are practiced at ever-increasing levels and often even promoted throughout society. It is staggering, disconcerting, and can lead one to despair if you think about it too much – and it’s very difficult not to. Jesus warned us that it will be just like the days of Noah in the end times before he returns. At that time “every intention of the thoughts of man’s heart will be only evil continually.” We are seeing His words play out before our very eyes.
As abhorrent as any of these things may seem to us, think about God’s view. In the end, all the evil in this world will be judged.. The Scriptures are clear that what we reap we will sow (Galatians 6:7), that our sin will find us out (Numbers 32:33), and that the wrath of God is coming to deal with all sin (Col 3:5-6). His judgment, although it often grinds very slowly, grinds very fine, and in the end, He will be vindicated as His eternal wrath is displayed throughout eternity.
May God help us to be on the side of righteousness and truth in these wicked days. May he guide us with His Word, though all the world may neglect it and ignore Him to their own destruction. And may He give us boldness to share His truth, including the truth about His coming judgment of sin, the glories of the cross, and by it God’s offer of forgiveness while His judgment yet tarries in this age of grace.
