John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Are you a spiritual person? Are you interested in spiritual things? Do you work on cultivating yourself spiritually, be it by reading, meditation, yoga, or other practices and pursuits? Perhaps you call yourself a Christian, or maybe you’re into New Age or some form of one of the Eastern religions. Regardless of what you or I may think about this subject, Jesus taught that anyone who doesn’t know Him, and anyone who doesn’t know the One Who He called “the true God” is spiritually dead. That person has physical life, but that person is not spiritual, in reality, no matter how they might think, imagine, or feel.
Of Christ we are told “in Him was life” (John 1:4). He alone is the author of all life, be it physical or spiritual. Physical life, we all know, is temporary. We all die. However, spiritual life is called “eternal life” throughout the Bible. It is another realm, unknown to the one who doesn’t know Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). No one else is – only Him. In the following familiar words, Jesus told us plainly that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Do you want to experience such life, i.e., true spiritual life? If you do, it will only be possessed in One way, i.e., by the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And there is only One Who fits that description: the Lord Jesus Christ.
