Who do you see?

John 14:20 “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

If you are a believer, how do you see other believers?  Do you see them as other people only, no more or no less than any other person who, like you, is going about their normal day to day tasks, doing normal things, in a normal way?   Or do you think about the fact that they are in Christ, and Christ is in them? Do you realize this?  If you do, it’s only because you have spiritual vision, for physical vision isn’t designed to see such things.

If we actually see others like this, it’s because we have faith to actually believe what Jesus said about them.  And if we have such faith, it will have an enormous effect on how we think about and act towards others.  Do you actually realize that your Christian wife is one of God’s daughters or that your Christian husband is one of God’s sons?  What about your believing children, or your neighbor, or your mother-in-law, or pastor?  They may not look like Christ-filled human beings at times. Certainly, there’s no halo over their heads that we can see, but to know this about them and to really believe it will have a very humbling effect on us.  And some day it will be ever so clear to us, for the Kind of Kings will declare to us “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me (Matthew 25:40).”
