John 3:16-18 ” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
The Word of God is a double-edged sword. There is very good news in God’s word. God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son to die for it, bearing in His own body the penalty for the sins of men. But there is also very bad news. That news is that anyone in the world stands condemned – and that condemnation is to an eternity in hell – if they don’t believe in the Son. And the truth is that no one believes naturally. Many people – as well as the devil – believe that there is a God (James 2:19). However, belief in the Son as the only way to be forgiven of sin, and embracing Him as Savior and Lord of one’s life is a supernatural work of God that the Holy Spirit works in one’s heart when he or she hears the good news of the gospel. Of course, many people don’t believe this. To them the Bible simply says “whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” But many say they just don’t believe this!!! Well, again, to them the Word of God, that double-edged sword says “whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” Jesus has urged us to enter the narrow gate of belief in Him (Matthew 7:13). Have you done this? If not, will you?
