To Encourage You

Romans 16:25-26 “Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations . . .”

Do you want to know a secret? The Bible is full of them. Often these secrets are called “mysteries” in the Scriptures. They are things that were once hidden but have now been revealed, but they are only revealed through the Scriptures and they are only understood by the believers in those Scriptures. That’s because they are revealed only by God in terms of both their provision and their comprehension. The Bible tells us that spiritual things are only revealed and can only be interpreted by the spirit, i.e., the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10-16).

The Holy Spirit is the gift of God to all who believe. So, if you want to know God’s secrets, the most wonderful secrets ever disclosed to anyone, you must first believe in Him. Otherwise, the most wonderful things that have ever been disclosed to anyone will never be known by you. That’s just the way it is, because that’s just the way God has determined it would be.

One such “mystery” is described in Colossians 1:27 as “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” You see, you can’t understand this wonderful reality unless Christ is in you, but when He is in you, you have a glorious hope that only the Christian will ever understand.

If you want to go through life in spiritual darkness, thinking you know so much when you know nothing regarding God’s wonderful truth, you are free to do so – but in that “freedom” you will be a slave to the ignorance that is in everyone who is apart from Christ. The Bible calls that condition as being “darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart” (Ephesians 4:18).

So, do you want to know a secret? You can know the greatest secrets in the universe, secrets that are free and available to anyone in any nation on the face of the earth, if, but only if, you believe.
